Clos de Tart Premier Cru La Forge de Tart
“The 2017 Clos de Tart Grand Cru is a decided success, wafting from the glass with fragrant aromas of orange rind, raspberries, wild berries and peonies that are complemented by deeper-pitched nuances of grilled game, cinnamon and spicy soil tones. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, satiny and succulent, with an open, giving profile this year despite its excellent concentration and fleshy core, concluding with a tangy, saline finish." Robert Parker (93-95)
TASTING NOTES
The wine shows great concentration on the nose and unveils lashings of dark fruit (plum, cassis, black cherry), spice and a savoury, black olive note. It shows great balance with smooth, velvety tannins and a lingering, energetic finish.
Serving temperature: 16 ° C
THE WINERY
Located in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, Clos de Tart is one of the five Grands Crus of the commune of Morey Saint-Denis. It is the only Burgundy appellation to have never been divided since its origin in 1141. Today and since 1932, the almost eight hectares of Clos de Tart and its eponymous estate belong to the Mommessin family in a monopoly. The owner of the winery and his team are focused on the production of high-end wines in the magnificent atmosphere of this ancient property.
Nowadays, the winery produces Grand Cru wines from the best plots and older vineyards, and Premier Crew from the younger ones. The plantations are managed organically, but without certification. The different areas are carefully mapped according to soil types and are harvested and vinified separately in stainless steel tanks.
VINIFICATION
Aging is done in 50% new oak barrels.
