THE WINERY
Ridge's history begins in 1885, when Osea Perrone, a doctor
and prominent member of San Francisco's Italian community, bought 180 acres
near the top of Monte Bello Ridge in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Since 1962,
Ridge has championed single-vineyard winemaking, searching California for those
rare sites where climate, soil, and varietal are ideally matched. Their aim is to guide the natural process;
using traditional methods.
VINEYARDS
The Geyserville vineyard is located on the western edge of
Alexander Valley, Sonoma County. The soils are gravelly loam. The youngest
vines are of 15 years age, the oldes over 125 years. Sixty percent of the vines
used for the wine are 50 years or older.
