61.30€

TASTING NOTES:

Riesling Ried Loibenberg Smaragd has aromas of fresh semi-ripe peach, green guava, pineapple core, ripe green pear, ginger, jasmine. Rich and ripe, yet fresh and light. Well balanced Riesling.

CELLAR:

Emmerich Knoll Winery is one of the most famous wine producers in Austria. The Knoll estate is located in the Wachau region, in the village of Unterloiben. Established in 1825, it is still family owned and operated. Knoll is best known for its age-worthy, expressive Riesling and Grüner Veltliner wines. The grapes grow in unique places on the north bank of the Danube River.

The estate covers 14 hectares (35 acres) of highly prized vineyards, including the Schütt, Leubenberg, Kellerberg, Kreutles and Pfaffenberg vineyards. These sites are planted with about 45% Riesling and 45% Grüner Veltliner, with the remainder planted with Chardonnay, Yellow Misquet, Rivaner, Blauer Burgunder and Gelber Traminer.

VINEYARDS:

Soil types are very diverse. Composed mainly of loess, clay, granite and gneiss. Mica slates are found in the Kampthal area, but also weathered soils covered with a thin layer of humus. The heart of Heiligenstein, almost ideal for top-end Rieslings, is weathered Permian desert sandstone.
